Police are asking for information after a hit and run in Whangārei on Saturday night.
Anyone who witnessed a car hit a pedestrian on Maunu Street around 6:30pm is asked to contact the police.
In a statement on Sunday, police said a medium build man, in his 50s or 60s with dark hair, glasses and dark-coloured clothing entered a store and allegedly took some items and left to get in a black sedan parked outside.
A staff member then rushed out to try and get the stolen items back when they were hit by the car. They were transported to hospital in a serious condition.
