Police say they have had a "significant impact" on Head Hunters members' plans with the disruption of an event in west Auckland.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said staff from Operation Cobalt and Tāmaki Makaurau set up checkpoints at the gang's event in Henderson on Saturday.
"Our presence has had a significant impact on gang members' and associates' plans, as they were met by mobile patrols after attempting to evade our checkpoints in surrounding streets," he said in a statement.
Police said eight infringement notices were issued for driver licensing and vehicle compliance matters on Saturday, and those who did attend ended up walking to the event.
Det Insp Proctor said a key part of Operation Cobalt is ensuring Police are visible at these kinds of events.
"We know in the past some of the behaviour exhibited on public roads around these events has caused disruption and posed risks to the wider public," he said.
"We are seeing that our visibility is having an impact with gang members altering their behaviour in public."
