Auckland police are responding to an aggravated robbery at the Westfield shopping centre in Albany.

A police spokesperson told Newshub a number of people were seen going to what's believed to be the Michael Hill store with weapons just before 7pm on Friday.

One image sent to Newshub shows the jewellery store surrounded by police tape and its security doors shut. Shards of glass can also be seen scattered across the mall's floor.

The police spokesperson said enquiries into the incident are ongoing to identify and find the offenders and confirm what was stolen.

Police are urging any witnesses who may have video footage to contact police on 105 and quote file number P052088466.
