Many Kiwis across the motu may have had to pull out an extra blanket overnight as much of the country felt "extremely cold" temperatures.
On Tuesday, a cold front moved across the country that saw snow fall in Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
The cold bite didn't let up overnight, with a combination of settled weather and clear skies allowing heat to escape, which saw many centres sitting in negative temperatures.
MetService meteorologist Karl Loots told Newshub it was a "very cold night for a lot of places" overnight.
Auckland City bounced between 1-3C, with the capital seeing similar temperatures at 3C.
Christchurch recorded a low of -4.5C, Rotorua hit -3.3C, while Taupō’s low was -2C.
Loots added from Wednesday, overnight temperatures will begin to warm up as some cloud moves in, and for the most part, it will be a settled week.
