New Zealand is in for a cold Wednesday morning, with parts of every region forecast to feel "colder than 0C".
The chilling effect of wind and cold temperatures means the 'feels like' temperature will be a lot cooler than normal for this time of year, NIWA said.
It'll be even colder over Tuesday night, MetService said, with temperatures set to plummet to an expected low of -4C in Taupo.
It'll be -3C in Rotorua and Masterton too, and the same in Christchurch after Tuesday's snow.
"Tuck in warm, it's gonna be a very chilly night," MetService warned on Twitter.
But the cold weather isn't here to stay - NIWA said there's "a battle of the air masses".
"The subtropical jet stream will steal the thunder of the polar jet by this weekend, but the polar jet may strike back next week," they tweeted.
"Spring things - Mother Nature just a little indecisive!"
It comes after Wellington and Christchurch received a chilly winter blast on Tuesday morning, with snow falling for brief periods.
MetService said the cold blast means large parts of the country would struggle to reach double digits in temperatures on Tuesday.
Additionally, almost all of the country will be below the September average minimum temperature on Wednesday, they added.
