The Wellington suburb of Kelburn is home to the capital's iconic Cable Car, 360-degree views of the city and some of the nicest homes - but a serial pooper is staining the community's reputation.
Residents living on Kelburn's Plunket St are on the hunt for the "most-wanted villain" in their suburb.
Newly plastered posters around the street threaten the villain "will soon stand exposed for their wild behaviour".
The posters have images of CCTV cameras, an elderly man pointing his finger with an unpleased-looking face and a dog pooing. It has the title: "Plunket Street Pooper: You're being watched!"
The poster goes on to say that numerous attempts by community members were made to deter the "hooligan", which saw "stern warning signs", poo bags provided and even chalked protests on the footpath.
But those attempts have failed and Plunket St residents are fed up.
"Residents have installed surveillance cameras in the area," the poster said.
It goes on to say that footage will be supplied to police and "justice will be served to the Plunket Street pooper".
Newshub went to visit the quiet Kelburn street to investigate. Freshly plastered posters didn't cope with Wellington's wind and rain overnight, and many of the signs were soggy and torn apart.
And while there was no dog poo in sight when Newshub paid a visit, a courier driver who frequents Plunket St said he picked up a stray dog last week and took it to the vet.
The stray dog was found on Fairview Crescent, which connects to Plunket St.
The courier driver said he hasn't noticed a poo problem on Plunket St but definitely on other streets.
"People need to stop being lazy, do better."
A Wellington City Council spokesperson said it's received four 'fixit' requests - a tool used by residents to file complaints - over the last 12 months.
The spokesperson added the requests were then escalated as street cleaning requests and contractors took to cleaning the poo.
But interestingly, the complaints weren't made as "dog" complaints, leaving the question unanswered as to who or what the Plunket Street pooper is.
The council's animal services staff will investigate Plunket St's poo problem, the spokesperson added.
Newshub attempted to track down the poo poster creator but met a dead end.
