Auckland crime wave: Michael Hill jewellery store ram-raided leaving smashed cabinets, shattered glass

A Takapuna jewellery store has been hit by burglars again as the crime wave continues in Auckland.

Emergency services were called to Michael Hill Jewellers on Hustmere Rd on Auckland's North Shore just after 2am on Wednesday morning.

In a statement, police said enquiries are ongoing following the ram-raid in Takapuna.

"A group of offenders entered the store before fleeing in the vehicle," a police spokesperson said.

"Police are working to establish what the offenders have stolen."

Footage from the scene showed smashed cabinets, which now appear empty, in what is believed to have been a ram-raid.

Shattered glass has been seen strewn across the road, where roading contractors were called in to assist with the clean-up.

The spokesperson urges anyone with information about the ram-raid to contact police.

"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Police on 105, quoting file number 221005/1470 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

It comes a day after a ram-raid at a dairy in Manurewa and a burglary at a Pahurehure liquor store with thieves damaging both shops.

Michael Hill jewellery stores have been heavily targeted this year with around six shops around the country burgled.

The latest jewellery heist before Wednesday happened at a Michael Hill store at North Shore's Albany Mall on Friday.
