Traffic was disrupted in Wellington again on Friday morning as climate action protesters blocked another major route.
Southbound traffic on State Highway 2 in Lower Hutt, beside Melling Train Station, was backed up and Newshub footage from the scene showed multiple protesters being dragged away by the police.
"Running late for work after the goddamned train protestors blocked the busiest intersection in Lower Hutt," one commuter said on Twitter.
"Making people who have no impact on addressing your concerns late for work isn't how you win people to your side!"
Police said six people have since been arrested.
"The protesters have now been removed and charges are being considered," a police statement said. "The road has reopened and traffic is reported to be flowing freely.
"Motorists are thanked for their patience."
It's the third time this week the Restore Passenger Rail climate action group have blocked a major route in Wellington. The group is demanding the Government restore passenger rail to early 2000s levels.
On Wednesday, another six protesters were arrested after the Terrace Tunnel on State Highway 1 was blocked - bringing traffic to a standstill.
