A blaze broke out at Ingham's Auckland chicken factory on Friday evening after a large commercial chicken oven caught fire.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told Newshub they responded to a third-alarm fire at the property in Wiri after being alerted at 6:38pm.
The plant supplies chicken products to supermarket chains and restaurants across New Zealand, while Ingham's also supplies fast food giant McDonald's.
Fourteen fire trucks attended well as operational support crews due to the risk of it spreading to the rest of the building.
"We've had a fire in a chicken processing machine. The fire was endangering the building but we've managed to contain it," Papatoetoe Senior Station Officer Brad Harvey told Newshub.
"We're just now monitoring the machinery and the area around the machine to ensure there's been no fire spread.
"The guys did a good job to contain it quickly."
Counties Manukau Group Manager Dave McKeown told Newshub a fire investigator is on site and several crews will remain to monitor the area while the rest leave.
