A homicide investigation has been launched in Lower Hutt after a man died following a Friday night assault.
Det Snr Sgt Rebecca Cotton said emergency services were called to a Mason St address in Moera at about 10pm following reports a man had been seriously assaulted.
The man later died in hospital.
Cotton said an investigation is underway and a scene guard remains at the address while an examination is completed.
