A man has died in Palmerston North after an overnight crash that saw a car clipping another vehicle before rolling onto a footpath and colliding with the victim.
The crash happened on Main St in the suburb of Roslyn at about midnight.
Police said St John was called but the man died at the scene.
"A passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured and the driver and front passenger received minor to moderate injuries," a police statement said.
"The serious crash unit has been advised," the statement said, adding the circumstances of the collision were being investigated.
