Police have named the man who was killed by a car after it flipped onto the footpath on Friday night in Palmerston North.
Police said he was 59-year-old Thomas David Martin.
Martin was walking home from the pub on the footpath in Roslyn at around midnight when a car flipped another vehicle before rolling onto a footpath and colliding with him.
The car struck Martin before crashing into the roller door of a storage unit and he died at the scene.
The crash happened on Main St in the suburb of Roslyn at about midnight on Friday.
Police said a decision on what charges the driver may face will not be confirmed until a full investigation is complete, which will take months.
"The investigation team are working with Mr Martin's family and giving them support," police said.
