Police have swarmed two properties in west Auckland on Thursday morning as part of ongoing investigations.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said two pre-planned search warrants are underway in the Waitematā District on Thursday morning.
"Police are at two addresses, in Kumeū and Massey, as part of an ongoing investigation," the spokesperson said.
Police said the searches are ongoing and are unable to comment further but will provide an update later on Thursday.
A neighbour of the Kumeū property police are searching told Newshub he woke up at around 5am and heard the police helicopter.
Craig Moodie headed off to work at about 6:30am to find a roadblock containing a marked police car and five or six other vehicles.
Moodie said the heavy police presence put him "on edge" and added he didn't know his neighbours "that well".
"I rang my wife as soon as I saw the roadblock and woke her up and got her to go around and lock all the doors," he told Newshub.
"So it puts you a little bit on edge, knowing there's somebody out there and you don't know what the problem is, but we just locked the doors and waited for things to quieten down."
