New Zealand has had a horror two days on the road with four people dying in separate crashes near Taupō, Wellington and Gisborne on Friday and Saturday.
Police said a person died following a crash on Ruapehu St, Taupō just before 9pm on Saturday.
"The crash involved a single motorcycle understood to have collided with the barrier," police said.
"Sadly, the rider passed away at the scene."
Police said a scene examination has taken place and the road is now open.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Later on Saturday, a second person died following another Taupō crash involving two vehicles at about 10:40pm.
The crash happened on Acacia Bay Rd, leaving one person dead and another injured.
Acacia Bay Rd is now open and an investigation into the crash remains ongoing, police said.
On Sunday morning, emergency services responded to a crash on the Remutaka Hill, just north of the summit, which was reported at about 6:35am.
Police said one person died in that crash and an investigation is ongoing.
The road is closed while emergency services attend the scene, police said
"Motorists are advised to plan accordingly or delay travel where possible."
Police also confirmed on Sunday morning a person had died following a crash on Awapuni Rd in Gisborne on Friday.
Police said the person was initially transported to hospital in a critical condition but they sadly died from their injuries.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
