Vodafone has apologised to its customers after putting the wrong phone number in an email about changing phone plans.

The communications company sent an email to customers alerting them to a new plan under the company's new name One New Zealand.

"We're changing soon. But One Plan™ has come sooner," the email read.

In the email seen by Newshub, the company admitted to a mix-up in numbers.

"Earlier this afternoon we sent you an email about our new One Plan™ and how to get in touch with us to move. This had the wrong phone number and we're really sorry about that," Vodafone said.

The email had a correction with the right number to call. Customers should call 0508 349 349 if they want to move plans.

It comes just two weeks after Vodafone announced it will be changing its name to One New Zealand in 2023.

CEO Jason Paris said at the time he was proud of the new name and he believes it better reflects the company's legacy in Aotearoa.

And it is much more than just a name change - over the past three years the company has moved from a global focus to a 100 percent focus on Aotearoa.
