Youths charged over robbery at St Luke's Mall believed to have targeted other Auckland stores - police

The group allegedly responsible an aggravated robbery at Auckland's St Luke's Mall last month are believed to be responsible for other burglaries across the city, police say.

Video footage posted on social media at the time showed a group of thieves smashing several glass cabinets at the Stewart Dawsons jewellery store at St Luke's Mall before fleeing the scene with stolen goods.

A police spokesperson said following investigations, dubbed 'Operation Rhino', six people were charged in relation to the incident, including five youths.

An investigation into the incident is continuing and it's believed the group may be responsible for other burglaries and robberies across the city, the spokesperson said.

Police have renewed appeals for information, including cellphone footage of the incident.
