COVID-19: 21,595 new community cases, 56 virus-related deaths, 325 people in hospital, seven in ICU

There are 21,595 new community cases of COVID-19 and a further 56 virus-related deaths over the last week, the Ministry of Health has revealed.

The Health Ministry gave the update, which covered the seven-day period from Monday, November 7 to Sunday, November 13, on Monday.

The Health Ministry said 325 people remained in hospital with the virus, seven of whom were in intensive care.

There are now a total of 2154 deaths confirmed as attributable to COVID-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor. 

Overall, New Zealand has reported just over 1.8 million COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.

The latest figures come after the Ministry of Health said COVID-19 infections, hospitalisations and the death rate are likely to increase in the near future. 

Last week the Health Ministry reported 20,802 new community cases, 41 virus-related deaths, 322 people in hospital and eight in ICU.
