Firefighters are responding to a large blaze at Pegasus Beach, north of Christchurch.
Fire and Emergency says 12 trucks and 50 firefighters are responding to the vegetation fire.

The fire is still burning, and winds are causing it to travel quickly south towards Woodend Beach.
Efforts to bring it under control are ongoing.
