Pregnant woman's car found after it was stolen from Middlemore Hospital in brazen daylight theft

Police have found a pregnant woman's car after it was stolen from Middlemore Hospital in a brazen daytime theft.

Daisy Pedersen said she was visiting a friend in hospital on Tuesday afternoon when her car was stolen from the car park.

Pedersen posted about the theft on TikTok explaining when she returned to the car park she couldn't find her car but put it down to "baby brain" because she is pregnant.

"I was visiting a baby at the hospital and I was only there for 30 minutes. I went there and came back and my car was gone and I have baby brain because I am pregnant, so I was looking around for my car thinking, 'I'm pretty sure I parked here but maybe it is on the other side of the hospital, I don't know'," Pedersen said in the TikTok.

She said a woman then approached her and told her she had seen her car being stolen.

"She was like, 'Are you looking for your car?' And I was like, 'Yes'...then I said to her, 'Did my car get stolen?' and she said, 'Yes'.

She said the witness took a video of the theft, which Pedersen also posted to TikTok.

In the video, a man wearing a red jumper can be seen getting out of a white car. He then walks over to Pedersen's car and smashes a small rear window to open the door.

He then returns to his car to get something and jumps into Pedersen's car before the video cuts off.

A police spokesperson told Newshub Pedersen's car was found on Oakdale Road in Mount Roskill on Wednesday.

They said enquires into the theft are still ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact police on 105 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
