Shocking video shows thieves loading car with stolen supermarket goods from trolley in Auckland's Point Chevalier

Shocking footage showing a pair loading a car with stolen supermarket goods has emerged on social media.

In the video, two alleged thieves can be seen hauling groceries from a trolley into a getaway car parked on Huia Road in the Auckland suburb of Point Chevalier.

A person, who appears to be a Countdown worker, walks towards the thieves, prompting them to rush off, leaving some of the stolen goods behind.

A police spokesperson said police received a report shortly before 10pm on Wednesday of a theft that had happened earlier that evening from Countdown in Point Chevalier.

Commentators on social media were critical of the thieves, some mocking how long they took to carry out the crime.

"This was so slow motion like a bad dream," one person said.

"The slowest unloading ever," another said.

"Halfway down the street: 'eah bro we forgot the eggs!'" a third said.

Countdown was approached for comment but they said they do not comment on thefts in their stores.
