Police are responding to an assault in central Wellington.
Police were called to Lambton Quay at around 8pm on Thursday, a spokesperson told Newshub in a statement.
"One person has serious injuries and police are making enquiries to understand the circumstances of the incident," a police spokesperson said.
Police added the public should expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
