A horse truck carrying seven horses and two people has rolled over near Evansdale north of Dunedin.
The truck rolled over on Waikouaiti-Waitati Rd at about 6:10pm on Monday.
Police said two people inside the truck have been taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
"Seven horses are on board and a vet has been called out to assist with their recovery," a police spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the road is closed at the scene as the crash has blocked both lanes.
"Traffic will be diverted via Coast Rd through Seacliff, however this road is not suitable for heavy vehicles and truck drivers are asked to avoid the route."
Other motorists are advised to delay their travel or avoid the area.
