The public is being asked to help identify two witnesses to the alleged assault of a baby in a Christchurch park last week.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in relation to the Saturday evening assault in the suburb of Sumner and appeared before the courts on Wednesday.
The man allegedly assaulted the newborn baby by jumping on the infant at the park. The man's name is suppressed.
To help officers with their investigation, they want to speak with two people who witnessed the alleged assault between 7:30pm and 10pm on December 18, police said on Friday.
A spokesperson urged the witnesses or people who may know them to contact police on 105 and quote file number 221218/9176.
