AM has smashed its fundraising goal and raised $300,000 for the Auckland City Misson in just two hours.
The fundraising drive was launched on Tuesday morning to help with the city's recovery efforts from the flooding and in the space of just over two hours, New Zealanders came to the aid of Aucklanders and raised the targeted 150,000.
On top of this, a generous anonymous donor is willing to match donations dollar for dollar up to $150,000 for flood-affected residents.
So the aim of $300,000 has been met.
The City Misson said donations will go towards filling thousands of food and hygiene parcels to be distributed throughout the Auckland region.
It will also help provide daily hot meals and outreach care for those experiencing homelessness.
"In the aftermath of the weekend’s flooding, with more bad weather on the horizon, Auckland City Mission -Te Tāpui Atawhai will be there for Aucklanders in the greatest need," the City Mission said on its Givealittle page.
