The Ministry of Health has reported 53 new COVID-19 deaths in New Zealand over the past seven days compared with 56 a week earlier, data showed on Monday.
That brings the country's official COVID-19 death toll to 3709.
In its weekly COVID-19 update, the ministry said there were 21,685 cases reported over the past week.
The ministry said 422 people remained in hospitals with COVID-19, nine of whom were in intensive care.
Last week, the ministry reported 22,770 new cases and 436 people in hospitals.
Overall, New Zealand has reported more than 2.1 million COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began.
