A person has been taken into custody following a stabbing in Auckland where someone was critically injured.
A police spokesperson said earlier that officers were called to an incident on Orakei Rd, in the central Auckland suburb of Remuera, just after 1pm on Thursday.
"We can advise that one person has sustained critical injuries and has been transported to hospital," the spokesperson said.
In an update on Thursday evening, police said they are continuing to investigate the stabbing.
"A person has been taken into custody this evening and is assisting Police with our enquiries," the spokesperson said.
"Cordons in the area have been removed – Police would like to thank nearby residents for their cooperation while those cordons were in place."
