A 43-year-old man has drowned at a popular beach in Nelson on Sunday evening.
Emergency services were called to Tāhunanui Beach shortly before 8pm on Sunday after a report of an unresponsive person in the water.
A police spokesperson said attempts were made to resuscitate the man but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful.
The police are investigating the incident on behalf of the Coroner.
