Two people have died after getting into trouble in the water at Piha on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called to the beach just after 6pm.
A police spokesperson said the pair were unresponsive when brought to shore by lifeguards.
"Medical assistance was immediately provided but tragically the two people were unable to be revived," they said in a statement.
The deaths will be referred to the Coroner.
It comes after three others died in water-related incidents in Auckland in the past 24 hours.
One person was found dead in Takapuna following a water incident on Saturday morning.
And on Friday two people also died in water-related incidents - one at Narrow Neck Beach on the North Shore, the other near Big Manly Beach, Manly, near Whangaparāoa.
