Police have confirmed four people are uncontactable and one missing in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle.
One is from Tairāwhiti and three are from Hawke's Bay.
Three of them hold active charges with two of them due for arrest for breaching bail conditions ahead of the cyclone.
The fourth person hasn't lived at their listed address for several years.
"Police have made significant enquiries to locate the remaining four uncontactable people," Eastern District Commander Superintendent Jeanette Park said in a statement on Monday.
"There may be a reluctance for these individuals to engage, however our enquiries continue."
She said the Police aren't seriously concerned for their welfare.
"This has been a mammoth effort by more than 100 police staff, who worked on matching and verifying people reported as uncontactable, with those reported safe or found," she said
"Additionally, more than 70 officers conducted visits at homes, alternative accommodation, evacuation centres and other locations."
Meanwhile, a fifth person, 40-year-old Joseph Ahuriri from Gisborne who was previously reported uncontactable is now being treated as a missing person.
Ahuriri has had no contact with family or Police since Cyclone Gabrielle, however, Police said his disappearance is unlikely to be cyclone-related.
Police are working with family and associates to establish his movements and whereabouts.
"We urge Joseph or anyone who has seen him since 13/14 February to please get in touch with Police so we can let his family know he is safe," she said.
