Incredible drone footage has emerged showing widespread flooding and severely damaged train tracks from Cyclone Gabrielle in Hastings.
The footage taken on Wednesday and posted on the Hastings District Council Facebook page shows train tracks over the Clive River covered in forestry slash.
As the footage continues, it shows part of the track completely washed away into the Clive River.
The footage also shows the parts of the Clive Bridge on State Highway 51, next to the destroyed train tracks, covered in forestry slash.
The road is currently closed for "safety inspections" after being partially reopened to traffic on Wednesday for essential travel only.
Hawke's Bay Emergency Management was forced to quash rumours on Thursday that the Clive Bridge had collapsed.
"The Clive Bridge on SH51 between Napier and Hastings has been CLOSED for a safety assessment," Civil Defence said.
"The bridge is INTACT but CLOSED. Please note - rumours have circulated that the bridge was damaged with cars still on it, this is INCORRECT, THIS BRIDGE HAS NOT COLLAPSED."
People couldn't believe the footage, with one person saying it was "truly devastating".
Another person said, "This is sad to all our road workers and Emergency services thank you so much for working over time to keep people safe and our roads".
