Three youths have been arrested following an aggravated robbery of a convenience store in west Auckland on Monday evening.

Police said the robbery happened at Kaurilands Superette on Atkinson Rd, Titirangi at about 5:30pm.

A police spokesperson said four offenders entered the superette and allegedly assaulted one of the store owners, before three of them left in a stolen vehicle with several items, including cigarettes and the cash register.

But one of the offenders was held in the store by a member of the public, police said.

"Police have located two further offenders at a Westward Ho Rd residential property in Glen Eden and arrested them without further incident," the police spokesperson said.

The three young people have been referred to Youth Aid and the investigation is continuing, the spokesperson added.

"Police urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Atkinson Rd at about 5:30pm and witnessed the incident to call 105, and quote event number: P053795530 or you can give information anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
