The Muriwai Fire Brigade has set up a fundraiser in memory of their fallen firefighters and heroes David Van Zwanenberg and Craig Stevens, who died during Cyclone Gabrielle.
It was set up on Friday on Givealittle and has already raised $25,000 to celebrate the two men who tragically lost their lives whilst serving their community.
"Our much-loved friends and colleagues Dave and Craig lost their lives helping their beloved community of Muriwai during cyclone Gabrielle," the page said.
All funds will be used in their memory as directed by their families.
Stevens and van Zwanenberg were checking a flooded property on Motutara Rd in Muriwai, Auckland on Monday night when a slip trapped them inside.
Stevens was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where he later died on Thursday night.
Van Zwanenberg's body was found on Wednesday.
"Craig and Dave died helping others, working with their team-mates for the benefit of their community," Fire and Emergency New Zealand's chief executive Kerry Gregory said in a statement.
"As we mourn them both, we will think of them with pride. E te ika huirua, moe mai rā (may our two heroes rest in peace)."
