Two escaped Auckland prisoners arrested after days on the run

Two of three men who escaped Corrections custody in Auckland last week have been found and arrested.

The men spent several days on the run after escaping from a prison escort van on Friday.

Det Snr Sgt Lisa Anderson, of Auckland City, said the pair - aged 24 and 45 - were found in Tāmaki Makaurau overnight.

"Our investigation is ongoing to locate the third man, the 43-year-old, and this remains a priority for police," said Anderson.

"We reiterate our message to anyone who is found to be harbouring him that they could face prosecution.

"Further updates in this matter will be provided once they are available."

Both of the arrested men were due to appear in the Auckland District Court on Tuesday. They're charged with escaping custody and offences related to stealing a vehicle.

The man still on the run should not be approached and people should immediately call 111 if they see him, Anderson said.
