COVID-19: 11,258 new community cases, 37 virus-related deaths, 211 people in hospital, seven in ICU

There are 11,258 new community cases of COVID-19 and a further 37 virus-related deaths over the past week, the Ministry of Health has revealed.

The Health Ministry gave the update, which covers the seven-day period from Monday, March 20 to Sunday, March 26, on Monday.

The ages of those who died were one in their 30s, two in their 40s, one in their 50s, two in their 60s, eight in their 70s, 13 in their 80s and 10 aged over 90.

The Ministry of Health said as of midnight on Sunday, 211 people are in hospital with the virus, seven of whom is in intensive care.

The total number of people whose deaths are attributed to COVID-19 is now 2662.

Overall, New Zealand has reported over 2.2 million COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.

Last week the Health Ministry reported 11,171 new community cases, 24 virus-related deaths, 200 people in hospital, and eight in ICU.
