There are 11,453 new community cases of COVID-19 and a further 18 virus-related deaths over the past week, the Ministry of Health has revealed.
The Health Ministry gave the update, which covers the seven-day period from Monday, February 27 to Sunday, March 5, on Monday.
The ages of those who died was one person younger than 10, one in their 20s, one in their 40s, one in their 50s, one in their 60s, four in their 70s, seven in their 80s, and two aged over 90.
The Ministry of Health said as of midnight on Sunday, 177 people are in hospital with the virus, one of whom is in intensive care.
The total number of people whose deaths are attributed to COVID-19 is now 2548.
Overall, New Zealand has reported over 2.2 million COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
Last week the Health Ministry reported 9100 new community cases, 40 virus-related deaths, 200 people in hospital, and thre in ICU.
