Four fire engines remain out of service from the Auckland floods and Cyclone Gabrielle.
These and several other engines all suffered floodwater damage that meant some had to be towed during the storms.
Some have returned to service. But Fire and Emergency said four would be out of service for more than a month.
The three in Auckland, and one in Hawke's Bay, have been replaced meantime with other firetrucks.
FENZ said none had been written off, though a van was.
It said it had orders in for new fire trucks.
It is not clear if it is reconsidering what type of truck is best to cope with floodwaters.
