One person has died and six people are injured following a crash on Makirikiri Road in Turakina this afternoon.
"Police were notified of the crash involving a single vehicle about 3pm," a police spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday.
The driver died at the scene.
"Six passengers have minor-to-moderate injuries and have been assessed by ambulance staff," police said.
South Mākirikiri School confirmed to Newshub it was one of its school buses that crashed on Tuesday afternoon.
"All of our students are uninjured and safe with their parents. We are currently supporting them and their families at school," a board of trustees member for the school told Newshub.
Hato Hone St John told Newshub it had received a call to the crash at 2:48pm on Tuesday.
"Two ambulances, two managers and a rapid response vehicle have responded to the scene," St John said.
Police said Makirikiri Road is closed and will be for some time.
