Incredible footage has captured a dramatic crash in Auckland on Thursday morning where a vehicle flipped and ended up on its roof.
Footage sent to Newshub shows a silver four-wheel-drive flying through a red light at the intersection of Kingsway Ave and St Lukes Rd at 8:55am on Thursday.
As the four-wheel drive goes through the red light, a silver people mover - which had a green light - turns onto St Lukes Rd from Kingsway Ave and crashes into the four-wheel drive.
The impact sees the four-wheel drive flip and roll into another car turning onto St Lukes Rd before ending up on its roof.
The footage shows the front of the people mover damaged.
Auckland resident Andrew Morgan, who witnessed the crash, told Newshub he was taking his wife to St Lukes Mall and was waiting at the intersection at the red light when the impact occurred.
"He did not give any attention to the red light and it was not like it had suddenly changed, it was a red light for 30 seconds," Morgan said.
"It was unbelievable, no respect for the traffic but lucky no one else was injured."
Morgan said the crash was "unnecessary" and not something you want to start your morning with.
He told Newshub it was "lucky" there was no one crossing the pedestrian crossing at the time of the crash.
Police told Newshub emergency services responded to the three-car crash just before 9am.
A police spokesperson said there were multiple people in the cars and some were transported to hospital.
The spokesperson added the road was cleared by about 10am.
Hato Hone St John told Newshub they responded to the crash with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle and transported a patient to Auckland Hospital in a moderate condition.
