Police have condemned the "immature", "unacceptable" and "disappointing" behaviour of a bikie after video captured the moment they threw what appears to be a slushie cup full of ice at a police vehicle.
In video captured by an Auckland local in Otara on Sunday, it shows a person on a dirt bike driving toward a police vehicle before hurling a slushie cup full of ice near the rear of the vehicle.
An Auckland local, who Newshub agreed not to name, said they were driving through Otara between 2:30pm and 3pm on Sunday when the incident unfolded.
They said a gang of around 20 to 30 bikies were hanging around the Otara off-ramp. He believes some were throwing rocks at the police car too, although he didn't capture that on camera.
The video shows a number of bikies hooning out of Otara's Caltex gas station, swerving in and out of lanes.
Counties Manukau East Area Commander Inspector Scott Gemmell said police take any type of reckless behaviour towards staff "seriously".
"Our officers are out and about in the community working hard to ensure New Zealanders be safe and feel safe."
Insp Gemmell added the "immature" behaviour seen in the video is from a "very small minority of our community" but it is "unacceptable" and "disappointing".
