Police are appealing to the public for information as they investigate a fatal crash in Kaitaia on Friday.
Emergency services responded to the crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Kaitaia's Wireless Rd at around 11:40pm on Friday, where one person was taken to hospital with critical injuries and subsequently died.
A police spokesperson said police are trying to "piece together the events" that led to the crash, and are appealing to the public for information.
"We are asking anyone who was in the area between 11:30pm to 12am to please get in touch."
Police are asking anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash to contact police on 105 and reference file number 230401/3048.
Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
