The discovery of asbestos has forced Auckland's busiest fire station to close.
It was found in samples after workers drilled a hole through a concrete wall.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) said the station is now undergoing decontamination to clear the carcinogen.
As a result, the station's appliances are unusable - with trucks from other parts of the city covering the patch.
Hamilton's Haz-Mat truck has also been brought up to provide coverage, FENZ said.
