A "massive explosion" has been heard in west Auckland as police search a property.
A large police presence, with some officers armed, has been in the area since 6:30am as officers carry out what they called a "pre-planned search warrant" at a property on Red Hills Rd in Massey.
"The address is contained and Police enquires continue," police said.
"We won't be able to comment further while this is ongoing."
A person in a local community Facebook group said they heard a "massive explosion" at about 10:45am.
Another person said, "I heard the boom as well. I thought it was thunder but didn't see any lightning".
Locals have also reported Red Hills Rd being blocked off by officers with guns and the police helicopter was heard overhead.
The search warrant in Massey comes a month after police carried out an operation for a wanted person on the same street.
