There are 14,242 new community cases of COVID-19 and a further 32 virus-related deaths over the past week, the Ministry of Health has revealed.
The Health Ministry gave the update, which covers the seven-day period from Monday, April 10 to Sunday, April 16, on Monday.
Of the deaths reported, one was in their 20s, two were in their 30s, one was in their 40s, one was in their 50s, five were in their 60s, seven were in their 70s, nine were in their 80s and six were aged over 90. Of these people, 12 were women and 20 were men.
The Ministry of Health said as of midnight on Sunday, 363 people are in hospital with the virus, nine of whom arein intensive care.
The total number of people whose deaths are attributed to COVID-19 is now 2716 .
Overall, New Zealand has reported over 2.2 million COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
Last week the Health Ministry reported 12,129 new community cases, eight virus-related deaths, 219 people in hospital, and seven in ICU.
