A man has been killed after he was shot by police at a house in Feilding on Sunday night.
Officers were called to a house on Seddon Street just before 1pm today after reports that a man had shot at a neighbour's window.
When they arrived police say the man refused to come out of the house and speak to officers.
The armed offenders squad (AOS) was deployed as a precaution and the police negotiation team (PNT) was also called out.
"At around 9pm, the man was shot by police after presenting a firearm at officers, and was critically injured," Central District Commander Superintendent Scott Fraser said in a statement.
"Medical assistance was immediately provided however, tragically, the man died after being transported to hospital."
Locals can expect police to remain overnight and on Monday as officers conduct scene examinations.
The IPCA will be notified and a critical incident investigation is underway. Support will be provided to the officers involved.
