Person in critical condition after being shot in Massey, Auckland, man arrested

A man has been arrested after shooting and critically injuring a person in Auckland on Saturday night. 

Police said they received a report of a person being shot outside a residential address on Triangle Road in Massey at 10:30pm. 

Police and ambulance responded to the shooting with one person transported to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition.

"This person is in a stable condition following surgery," a police spokesperson said. 

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in Waitakere District Court on Monday.

Hoto Hone St John told Newshub in a statement they responded with an ambulance and one rapid response unit.

Police believe the shooting involves two people that know each and is an "isolated incident". 

"There will be an ongoing Police presence in the Triangle Road area while Police conduct enquiries, but it is not thought that there is an ongoing risk to the community," the spokesperson said. 

Police said cordons are in place in the area and apologise for any inconvenience experienced by residents while they conduct a scene examination and establish the circumstances of the shooting.
