Dramatic scenes have been captured on camera of the aftermath of an early morning Auckland ram raid.
Six youths were arrested in the early hours of Good Friday morning, after a ram raid at a dairy in east Auckland's Rothesay Bay.
Officers in the police eagle helicopter, who were searching for an unrelated vehicle, saw a car speeding away from the ram raid on Beach Rd just before 4am.
"Eagle followed the car and provided location details to responding police units on the ground, who stopped the car on Mayoral Dr," a police spokesperson said.
"Six youths, aged 13 to 16, were taken into custody."
In footage provided to Newshub, a significant number of police vehicles and staff can be seen sprawled across Mayoral Dr, surrounding the damaged vehicle.
The footage shows substantial amounts of damage to the vehicle, with the diver's side dented and one wheel of the vehicle blown.
Taz La Rosa recorded the ordeal and told Newshub he saw about 20 to 25 police vehicles pursue the vehicle to Mayoral Dr.
"There was a Toytoa Aqua car that looked stolen, it had its front wheels all blown out."
La Rosa told Newshub he's never seen a police operation like Friday's one before.
The provided footage shows on police vehicle rammed into the rear end of the vehicle of interest.
A number of people presumed to be the offenders involved, are seen sitting down, lined up against a nearby fence with police surrounding them.
As police staff disperse from the scene with the young offenders, a yellow tow truck tows the vehicle away.
