Wellington firefighters doused a stack of cardboard set alight in the city's CBD on Tuesday night.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) was called to the scene on the corner of Manners and Cuba Sts at 11:20pm.
A FENZ spokeswoman told Newshub one appliance attended the blaze and the fire was extinguished by midnight.
Footage provided to Newshub shows the roaring blaze burning outside The Body Shop, threatening a nearby car.
In a statement to Newshub, a police spokesperson said police are not investigating the fire.
The Wellington City Council have been approached for comment.
