Restore Passenger Rail protesters caused minor disruption to Monday morning commuters after four women glued themselves to Vivian St in Wellington.
Vivian St at the intersection of Cuba St, on State Highway One, is now clear after four protesters blocked it at around 8am on Monday.
After about 30 minutes of protest action, police moved in and removed the glued protesters.
"Police quickly responded this morning to a small group of people who had sat on Vivian St at Cuba St, they have now been taken into custody," said a police spokesperson.
"Charges to be considered."
Newshub's newsroom is close by and lots of frustrated motorists could be heard tooting at the time of the protest action.
Traffic is flowing again, and pictures captured by Newshub show police escorting protesters down Cuba St.
"The protest has been cleared and the road is now open. Some delays are possible while queued traffic clears," said a Waka Kotahi spokesperson.
"We disrupt because it is an emergency. We cannot idle while those in government endanger our safety. Climate collapse equals social collapse," said a Restore Passenger Rail spokesperson.
Monday's Restore Passenger Rail action comes after two previous protests last week on Monday and Thursday.
