Emergency services have been unable to save a child who drowned in Tauranga on Sunday morning.
A police spokesperson said officers responded to a report of a kid drowning in Memorial Park in Tauranga at 9:50am.
Emergency services swarmed to the park and a child was found unresponsive.
"CPR was commenced, but sadly the child was unable to be revived," the spokesperson said,
"Police's thoughts are with the child's family who have requested privacy at this difficult time."
The death will be referred to the coroner, police said.
