Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) officials will hold a press conference as the city's residents wake to a local state of emergency.
Torrential heavy downpours on Tuesday caused significant flooding across the supercity forcing schools to evacuate, roads to close and homes to flood.
AEM deputy controller Rachel Kelleher and other officials are due to speak to media at 8am.
